When can I request a refund from my student account?

A student or parent of an undergraduate student may request a refund when a valid credit balance exists.

Please note that refunds cannot be issued until:

  • the funds are received and posted to the student’s account,
  • the student has completed ND Roll Call, and
  • classes have begun for that semester.
How do I request a refund?
  • A refund may be requested by completing the Online Refund Request Form, calling 574-631-7113, or visiting the Office of Student Accounts.
How will my refund be disbursed?

In order to receive the most timely and efficient refund, students should sign up for DIRECT DEPOSIT within IRISHPAY. NOTE: DIRECT DEPOSIT within IRISHPAY is separate from the direct deposit that you may have set up with the Payroll Office to receive student employment payments.

How do I sign up for direct deposit within IRISHPAY?

The following steps are required to sign up for direct deposit:

  • Log in to IRISHPay and select "Manage Refunds"
  • Select "Manage My Refunds"
    • Enter or confirm personal banking information
    • Click Sign Out
  • Complete the online refund request form
What if I do not sign up for direct deposit within IRISHPAY?

For all parents and those students who do not sign up for direct deposit in IRISHPAY, paper checks will be available to pick up in the Office of Student Accounts (picture ID required) or mailed to the address provided in the online refund request form. Paper checks are processed on once a week.

When will my refund be available?

Direct deposits are processed on a daily basis and will typically be available within three to five business days. Paper checks are processed only once throughout the week. Due to the volume of requests for refunds during the first week of classes each semester, your refund may take up to one week to process. A picture ID is required in order to pick up a check in person.

I received an email after submitting my refund request asking for permission, what does that mean?

Written permission from the responsible party is requested if the credit balance is a result of a payment made by that individual, a Direct PLUS Loan, a college savings plan payment or an IRISHPAY Monthly Payment Plan payment.

Can you refund a valid credit balance back to the bank account associated with the IRISHPAY Monthly Payment Plan?

No. In order to receive a direct deposit refund, students must enter their banking account information (checking/savings and routing number) into IRISHPAY by selecting the Manage Refunds tab on their IRISHPAY account. Students can enter any bank account information in order to receive the refund.
